As Sisters of the Living Word we are called to be witnesses to Christ alive in our world, in each other, and in all creation. As you may have heard from earlier announcements, the Sisters of the Living Word are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. One of the goals of this year is to spend a bit of time renewing our connection with one another and with the charism and mission of the SLW.

We have collected a series of writings from our Foundress Sister Annamarie Cook’s Speak Lord for reflection. Our hope is that her writings may promote a deeper understanding and connection with Sister Annamarie, the charism and vision of the Sisters of the Living Word, and with the wider world.

Sister John Boegeman passed on to eternal joy with our Loving God on February 13, 2025 at the age of 94.

Recently Sister Chioma was invited to speak at a vocation podcast by the Chicago Archdiocesan Vocation office, “Dare to Love.” For the podcast she was interviewed by Sister Lovina Pammit, OSF and Father Adam McDonald.

Recently Sister Chioma represented CTU at the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) Convocation in Minnesota. She also went on a pilgrimage a reservation and visited sacred sites for the inidigenous tribes located there.

As women religious in the Church we are called to listen silently to the Word, and respond to it in faith and in complete openness to the Spirit. In our calling as joyful witnesses and bearers of the Word, we attempt to penetrate the darkness with the light of Christ, to nurture the Christ life within others, and to make a home for the Word in the hearts of the oppressed. A Voice Crying in the Wilderness

First Sunday of Advent Reflection

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am Your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand!” Isaiah 41:10

Sister Marie McKenna passed on to eternal joy with our Loving God on October 15th, at the young age of 72.

Sister Theresa Weber passed on into the arms of our loving God on October 10, 2024, at the age of 96.

Sister Veronica Hoffmann passed away into eternal life on September 10, 2024 at the age of 90.

We are excited to share that our Sister Chat event recordings have now surpassed over 1,000 views!

We regularly gather for intimate 45 minute discussions with our SLW Sisters to talk about their ministry, service, life experiences, and the work that they are passionate about. These moderated discussions are followed by an open Q&A with our event attendees.

Sister Rita Ramos passed away into eternal life on August 6, 2024 at 90 years of age.
