Sister Carrie Miller Chosen as Panelist for the 8th year of the Global Sisters Report - The Life

Written by Sister Carrie Miller, SLW

I was recently invited by SLW Leadership to apply for being on the Global Sisters panel of columnists for the publication, “Global Sisters Report,” through the National Catholic Reporter. I accepted the invitation and sent in the history of my ministry as well as a sample of my writing. From the many applications received world-wide, twenty were selected. I was honored and excited to be one of them! I will be called upon to write five or six articles throughout the year, and to occasionally join a few other Sisters for a Zoom conversation on a topic of global concern for women religious, so as to surface appropriate responses to questions/issues that arise. It is a one-year commitment. This is yet another way in which I will try to “share the Word.”

As part of their application, the panelists were all requested to include a sample of their writing (a reflection, or their thoughts) on Advent. I chose to write a reflection on the contrasting Sacred Moments of Life, as experienced personally and communally. It is both a beckoning for The Holy One to hear our cry to “Come,” as well as a nudge to realize we, too, are called to Come.

Sister Carrie’s reflection can be found below…
