Today we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mary was given the special privilege of being conceived without original sin. God had a plan for Mary. She was to be the Mother of our Savior and play an important role in the redemption of the world. So God prepared her with this special privilege. She was free from sin.

God has a plan for each one of us. We, too, receive the grace we need to carry out that plan. But do we know what that plan is? During these days of preparation for the coming of our Savior, let us ask Mary to help us know God’s plan for us so we can live it faithfully. We may not be called to change the world, but we can make Christ present to others.

Mary, the Immaculate Conception, patroness of the United States, help our leaders and country live justly and peacefully.
