December 3 – Tuesday St. Francis Xavier

Isaiah 11:1-10; Ps 72:1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17; Luke 10: 21-24

Isaiah speaks of a reign where all God’s creatures live together in peace and harmony, and where the poor are judged with justice, not by appearances and hearsay. That does not describe our world today with all its conflicts, hatred and doubts.

I can’t change the world, but I can make a start by watching my thoughts, words and actions. Can I try to understand rather than judge, help rather than ignore others, spread kindness rather than hate? Can I, during this Advent Season, try to be a compassionate presence to others?

Come, Lord Jesus, show me the way.
