Planned Giving Program Remembering the Sisters... In your Will You can bequeath a gift to the Sisters in your will. Just name the Sisters of the Living Word as one of your beneficiaries and record the amount or percentage of your estate that you wish the Sisters to receive. Keep in mind that a will is an important and necessary document, which protects your loved ones and allows your estate to be distributed according to your wishes. Without a will, your possessions may be distributed by the state in which you live. Stocks, Bonds, or Securities By making an outright gift of stock or securities to the Sisters of the Living Word, you may avoid the capital gains tax and be entitled to a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock. Real estate, art, coin, and stamp collections, and antiques (furniture, etc.) may also be donated with significant tax reductions in your estate. Of course, before taking such action it is important that you consult your attorney or accountant to be sure you qualify under the laws of your state. Cash or Pledged Gifts You may arrange an installment schedule according to your needs and convenience or a one-time cash gift. Let us know if you wish to make installments annually or more frequently based upon your ability and in line with possible tax advantages. Gift Annuity A gift annuity is a contract in which you transfer cash, securities, or other assets to the Sisters of the Living Word in exchange for guaranteed regular payments for life. The amount of each payment that you receive from a gift annuity is determined by your age when the annuity is funded. There is no limit to the number of annuities you can hold. In fact some individuals fund annuities annually to take advantage of interest rate increases. Once the payment is determined, it remains fixed for your lifetime. Payment may begin immediately, or you can defer to a later date. You receive an income tax reduction for the gift annuity and part of each payment is tax-free. Life Insurance If you have already made a will and provided for your heirs through the disbursement of property and valuables, but still wish to make a substantial gift to the Sisters of the Living Word, consider an insurance policy. You may name the Sisters of the Living Word as the beneficiary on an existing, paid up life insurance policy.
Before making any decisions
regarding significant charitable gifts, we urge
you to consult your attorney or accountant.
This will safeguard your interests and
those of your family.
Obituary Remembrance You can allow the memory of a loved one to live on in the hearts and lives of many people while at the same time contribute to a worthwhile cause. At the time of death, families often seek ways to remember and support the special interests of the deceased. We invite you to remember the mission of the Sisters of the Living Word by adding "in lieu of flowers" in the obituary notice of your loved one.
