New Orleans, Louisiana

Retreat, March 2008

We are reminded of a poem, "Leave the future open in case God has a plan, so you can say Yes to him.  Take me as You can to a place where You would have me do what you would do."

So keeping this in our hearts, three Associates from Midland, Texas gave a retreat for the New Orleans Associates.  The focus of the retreat was a meditation on the Our Father.  Barbara Aretz, Emma Galindo, and Bobby Mills provided various approaches reflecting on words of the Our Father.  This sharing continued into the afternoon with a prayer commitment service directed by Lynda Rink, SLW.

The day provided a beginning for reflection, sharing and communication between the Texas and Louisiana Associates.  It is our hope that this exchange will continue to grow in the future.

We would like to thank Sisters Lynda and Elizabeth for helping to make the morning such a success.

-Barbara Aretz, ASLW

Nature & Purpose of Associate Program

            a relationship,

            an experience of mutuality,

and the furthering of the Christian mission.

Association is a relationship between Christian adults and the Sisters of the Living Word uniting us in our common commitment to prayer

            for God’s people,

for local, national and global concerns

of peace, justice, reverence for the earth

for the needs of one another,

            for our ministries

for our shared desire to deepen our understanding and

                        lived experience of Gospel spirituality

for our mutual support of one another as we each,

in our own way,

reflect and affirm the presence of the Word in the world.
