Louisiana Associate Retreat 2009

"Louisiana Associates gather for their yearly retreat and Associate renewal/commitment."

Sisters, Associates and some parishioners participated in the SLW annual  Lenten retreat and Associate renewal/commitment at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Belle Chasse, LA.  The retreat theme, “Nature Stations” offered everyone  a greater awareness of the SLW call to be good stewards of God’s creation.  All attending experienced how the beauty of nature grasps our attention, inspires us and helps us discover God’s presence in our lives in new ways.

During the closing prayer service each person shared something that touched them from the day’s experience. Associates renewed their commitment for another year and Sr. Lynda and Sr. Elizabeth renewed their commitment as Sisters of the Living Word.

Charlene Becnel joined other associates as she made her first commitment as an Associate.  The day was an excellent reminder of what being a “Living Word” is all about!

Michigan Retreat 2009

Michigan Associates join together for a day of retreat.

What a day!  “Unwrapping God’s Gifts” was the theme of the retreat held on Saturday,

May 2, at Christ the King Church in Flint MI.  Sisters of the Living Word and Christ the King Parishioners sponsored the retreat.  Between 40-50 people from far and wide, including SLW Associates were present.  Sr. Sue Tracy, OP from Grand Rapids, MI, a four time cancer survivor, gave the retreat.  His personal touch and prayerful spirit inspired the retreatants.

Sr. Joanne’s nephews prepared a delicious dinner.

of peace, justice, reverence for the earth

for the needs of one another,

            for our ministries

for our shared desire to deepen our understanding and

                        lived experience of Gospel spirituality

for our mutual support of one another as we each,

in our own way,

reflect and affirm the presence of the Word in the world.
